BAA have today submitted an application to the Secretary of State for Transport to build AIRTRACK. Please be aware that this project and the down times on the level crossings does not just affect those businesses and residents in Egham but the whole of Runnymede and Spelthorne. If you travel in the area you will be affected. Egham Chamber of Commerce has created a dedicated website to provide information for people wanting to object, with sample letters available for download if required. Please go to: www.egham-airtrack.co.uk The latest estimates for closure of Egham's level crossings are as follows: Egham Station - closed for 34 minutes per hour, Pooley Green - closed for 39 minutes per hour, Thorpe Road - closed for 33 minutes per hour. This is assuming that all the trains run according to schedule and that the barriers will reopen if, after the first train, the next train is not expected within 30 seconds. Please write to the DfT explaining how your business, your customers and your employees will be impacted by these proposals if we don't get a tunnel or bridge in Egham. Also, please forward this email to everyone you know who lives in Runnymede and who could be affected if this project goes ahead, please include all groups, schools, colleges and organisations too.
