ABOUT EGHAM CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

Egham Chamber of Commerce is an independent organisation with straightforward objectives - to promote business between members, and in doing so to represent the best interests of the community by encouraging commercial growth, and local prosperity. Increased wealth for your business means more wealth in the local economy, and greater benefits for the community at large.

We have something to offer for every business. Size does not matter, neither does the type of sector. If you are not already a member, browse through our site, evaluate the benefits, and join now. The very modest annual subscription is dependent on number of employees, and is detailed elsewhere.

The Chamber has a strong voice in the running of business affairs in the Borough of Runnymede - on rates, development and planning, traffic, parking, education and training. Recent Government legislation requires local authorities to consult with local business organisations. With Addlestone and Chertsey Chambers and in partnership with Runnymede Borough Council, the Chamber is a foundation member of the Runnymede Business Partnership with a prime objective of encouraging economic activity in this area. The Business Partnership organises regular Breakfast Forum Meetings on topical subjects. Frequent meetings are held between Chamber representatives and Councillors and Officers of the local authority on a wide range of subjects.

Airtrack

BAA have recently submitted an application to the Secretary of State for Transport to build AIRTRACK.

You can view the application documents at www.heathrowairport.com/airtrack or you can see hard copies at the locations outlined in the pdf attachment.

Anyone who wishes to object to the proposals, or any part of them, must submit their objections before 18th September.

Please be aware that this project and the down times on the level crossings does not just affect those businesses and residents in Egham but the whole of Runnymede and Spelthorne. If you travel in the area you will be affected.

Egham Chamber of Commerce has created a dedicated website to provide information for people wanting to object, with sample letters available for download if required.

Please go to: www.egham-airtrack.co.uk

The latest estimates for closure of Egham's level crossings are as follows:

Egham Station - closed for 34 minutes per hour, Pooley Green - closed for 39 minutes per hour, Thorpe Road - closed for 33 minutes per hour.

This is assuming that all the trains run according to schedule and that the barriers will reopen if, after the first train, the next train is not expected within 30 seconds.

Please write to the DfT explaining how your business, your customers and your employees will be impacted by these proposals if we don't get a tunnel or bridge in Egham.
